Today’s freebie is for my fellow artists who think the prices for print comic book page templates are outrageous. Here’s two free templates for a standard comic book page. The first has guides for dividing the page in half. The second does not. They’re both 11″ x 17″ 300 dpi RGB jpegs. Just click the image to get the original size file and then right-click and click Save Image As.
The actual size of a comic book page is 67% of this template size. The live area of this template is 13.5″ x 9″ and therefore the final comic book page live area will be 9″ x 6.”
If you intend the use this template for digital illustration, there’s no reason to draw with larger dimensions than the actual printed version. Simply re-size the document to 67% of the original size (11″ x 17″ to 7.37″ x 11.39″) and set the PPI to whatever you prefer to work in.
I hope this saves you a bit of time! Best of luck with all your creative endeavors,
Tim
