Today’s freebie is a blank comic template! Click on any of the images below to open up the high resolution file and then simply right-click and press “Save-As” to download your template. The templates measure 13 inches by 4 inches, which is the standard comic strip size, the same size as your favorite comics, like Baby Blues, Zits, Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, and Bloom County. Above the template are spaces delegated for the comic strip title, the author, the date, and the comic strip number.
If you want to print this blank comic template, open it up in your favorite image viewing or editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Preview. Then go to File->Print. If you have the ability to print on 11 by 17 tabloid paper, then you don’t need to scale the template at all. If you’re printing on 8.5 by 11 paper, press “scale to fit” in order to fit the entire template onto the page.
If you’re using the template for digital illustration, open it in Photoshop, create a new layer and get right to work. If you want the template lines to be above your art layer, drag the template layer above above your other layers and change the blend mode of the template layer to “multiply.”
